Adobe has since released a Photoshop mobile version for editing photos on tablets, iPhones and Android-based phones. While it gave more heavyweight editing to tablets with Photoshop Touch, it gave to Android-based phones as well as the iPhone, Photoshop Express. But that is no more as the Android-based and iOS phones can now enjoy the full use of Photoshop Touch.
Photoshop Touch is Adobe’s mobile application that enables you to combine multiple photos into layered images, edit them, add professional effects so you can easily share from your iOS or Android phone or tablet.
Projects created using the phone version can be synced and edited using Photoshop on either tablets or the desktop too using Adobe’s Creative Cloud service. The biggest issue you are likely to have with Photoshop Touch is the small screen size for editing and that is not the apps problem, just a fact of life when working on a tablet device. Best bet, use a stylus when working with Photoshop Touch. However, this mobile app should not be expected to do much more than the desktop version, as it is not a replacement for Photoshop CS. It is meant for use on-the-go where the desktop or laptop is not readily available.
Photoshop Touch can be bought on the iTunes App Store as well as on Google Play. It is available for iPhone 4S or later, 5th gen iPod touch or Android phones running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or later. If you’re a photographer, mobile or otherwise, and want some powerful editing tools in your pocket, this is definitely a worthwhile app to acquire. You can download a trial version to get a first hand feel.
